On October 4th, 2020 Patricia Culler passed away.
Longtime board member and animal advocate, Patricia Culler (also known as Ms. Pat) passed away on October 4th of 2020. Ms. Pat dedicated herself to being an animal advocate to HHS for over thirty-years.
Ms, Pat was named the 2020 Philanthropist of the Year posthumously.
On February 11, 2020 we celebrated the retirement of Ms. Pat from the HHS board of directors after thirty-years for service. Ms. Pat served in the capacity of Recording Secretary, Vice President, and President during her tenure.
Ms. Pat’s name graces our Lee C. and Patricia Culler Boarding, Grooming, and Travel Center for which she donated $500,000.00 to build. The center is a testimonial to her dedication for our community’s animals. In 2016 she was awarded the Inaugural Pat & Lee Culler Humanitarian Award at the Fur Ball Gala. Ms. Pat will be sorely missed. Patricia served in the capacity of Recording Secretary, Vice President, and President during her tenure.

Over the years, Patricia was also instrumental for the success of many of our fundraising events, including the Pitcatsso Project in 2003.
This unique event challenged Patricia, along with former employee Toni Sanders, to call on potential sponsors to purchase a sculpture of a cat, have it painted by an artist of their choice, and then have it auctioned at Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS). Patricia's efforts resulted in generating $80,000 for our community's animals. Due to the success of this event, a few years later the Muttisse Project was launched with again, a very successful outcome.
Patricia was recognized as top individual fundraiser for the Mutt Strutt event in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2016 she was awarded the Inaugural Pat & Lee Culler Humanitarian Award at the Fur Ball Gala.
When asked why she decided to retire from the board at this time she replied, "I feel I have accomplished everything I have set out to do."
Patricia will be greatly missed by all of the HHS staff and her fellow board members. Rest in peace Ms. Pat.
