CEO, Pam Clayton Message

On behalf of Halifax Humane Society, I wish Miguel Abi-hassan much success in his new adventure. Miguel, through the support of an amazing Board of Directors, was instrumental in transforming Halifax Humane Society into the respected organization it is today. There will always be challenges before us, but I have complete confidence that our HHS family will continue to evolve and be a beacon of hope for our community and the animals that we so dearly love.

Like so many organizations, the pandemic has impacted our ability to fully staff our facilities and programs. Adjustments are being made as we strive to maintain critical programs and services for all our guests, albeit human or animal. Our hope is always to exceed guest expectations but as we are stretched thin, I thank you for your patience and support during this time. Feel free to contact me if you have any ongoing concerns at pamc@halifaxhumanesociety.org or my direct line at (386) 202-6632.

A new and exciting team member training program, EXCEL (EXpanded Curriculum for Exceptional Learners), will run each Tuesday in November. Check the website for changes in our operating times. The program is designed to unite our team, invest in their professional development, and empower them to surpass the expectations of our guests, our supporters, our volunteers, and of course all the animals in our care.

We are grateful for the continued decline in COVID cases in our community, however, we are not willing to risk the health/safety of any of our HHS family, this includes you, to host our traditional in-person Fur Ball event. The decision was not made lightly and provides yet another immediate challenge to be addressed, a financial shortfall. I invite you to come walk with me through our facility and look into the eyes of each animal in our care. They are counting on us to do everything possible to save their life – by name…...Harriet (12-year-old Basset Hound), Q-Tip (Neo-natal kitten), Millie (Hen), Ragan (Rat), Ellie (dog 200+ days and counting). Please thoughtfully consider a sacrificial gift to maintain our lifesaving work into 2022 and beyond.

Together we can make a difference!
